Why should teachers care about developing students’ higher order thinking skills?

I think teachers should develop students’ higher order thinking skills to help prepare them for the future and to try to help them succeed  as much as they can. Teachers should definitely care about it because they should want their students to learn as much as possible and achieve their goals.  By teaching students higher order thinking skills I think it will help them think more independently and help motivate them to gain more knowledge.  I think it will also help improve their grades and cause them to do better in school.

  1. Imagine the possibilities that would come out of a child thinking outside of the box… Higher-order thinking encourages a child to dream! Like you said, more knowledge= better grades. Better grades=graduation. Which could lead to the dream of going to college and becoming a teacher….
